What is the eFLQA
How to use the eFLQA
The eFLQA is a self-evaluation measuring tool, which can be filled in by the patient himself. The questionnaire is self-explanatory and consists of 92 items that refer to the following scales: Physical status, everyday life, social life, emotional well-being, treatment, satisfaction and profession/ household.
The impact of leg ulcers
Leg ulcers are non-healing wounds of the skin and subcutaneous tissues of the lower extremities caused by loss of inflammatory tissue. Venous leg ulcers, created by chronic venous insufficiency, are the most common ulcers of the lower extremities. Tendency is for slow healing and high recurrence rates, due to insufficiencies of the vascular system. This creates a need for long-term treatment and has a negative impact on the quality of life (QoL) of sufferers. Leg ulcers can cause severe pain, social isolation, and restricted mobility, thus burdening daily life.
Patients who are living with chronic ulcers may also experience psychological challenges and conditions such as clinical depression. As most affected patients are elderly, leg ulcers often coincide with other morbidities common among this age group (eg, vascular disease, hypertension, obesity), adding further physical and psychological strain.
The use of eFLQA for clinical diagnosis as well as continual assessment of QoL and resulting interventions to improve the situation of the individual are an important cornerstone of a guideline-based patient care.
